Garry Barker
Garry has over 30 years of media experience. His most recent position was with Maritime Broadcasting System, owner and operator of 23 radio stations in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. Garry was Executive Vice-President of MBS, along with being MBS Vice-President of Programming and Vice-President of radio stations CHNS and CHFX in Halifax. His previous experience include: Program Manager of CFRA/CFMO, Ottawa; Operations Manager of CKLC/CFLY, Kingston, Ontario; Program Director of CHNS, Halifax; Operations Manager of CFCY/CHLQ, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island and Promotions Manager at CFRA/CFMO, Ottawa. Garry also served on the Radio Executive Committee of the Bureau of Broadcast Measurement in Toronto, as well as the Radio Advisory Committee of Loyalist College in Belleville, Ontario and Algonquin College in Ottawa. He continues his involvement with radio as a consultant for broadcasting companies across the country.
Troy Michaels Swinamer
Currently General Manager and Radio Program Instructor at The Atlantic Media Institute, Troy is responsible for the day-to-day operations and coordinates the radio program at the Institute. With over 20 years of media experience, he worked at various stations of the Maritime Broadcasting System including Announcer at radio stations CHNS/CHFX, Halifax; Announcer/Producer at radio stations CKCW/CFQM, Moncton; Announcer/Music Director at radio station K100, Saint John and Operations Manager at radio stations CHNS/CHFX, Halifax. Troy continues his involvement in the industry as a voice-over artist and freelance journalist. He is also a member of the Radio and Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) of Canada.
Renee Stevens
A graduate of the Atlantic Media Institute in 1994, Renee is responsible for the television program including shooting, editing and writing. Her experience in the media spans well over a decade and includes work with community cable, CBC Television and CBC Newsworld, TSN, YTV, the Family Channel, HGTV, Hockey Night in Canada and TMN. Renee is also a South Shore correspondent for Nova Scotia’s provincial daily newspaper, the Chronicle Herald, where she was the first stringer to win photographer of the month and has also been featured in their photography book Chronicle of Our Time.
